The immersive “resort” Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a highly anticipated option to the Disney World line up. Also known as the Star Wars Hotel, it is billed as a totally unique experience, and based on the details we’ve seen, this claim is true. (updated September 30, 2021).

This post is chock full of artist renderings of the experience as released by Disney. While we don’t know much about specifics yet, there is a clearer picture starting to form of just what to expect during a stay on Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

The latest news is that the opening date is officially announced, along with the reservation start date. We finally have an answer to the question: When can I make Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser reservations?

Read on for more detials.

What is Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser?

Ok, first things first, what on earth is this thing that people commonly refer to as the Star Wars hotel?

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is a completely immersive experience, clearly themed around Star Wars. Guests become characters in the drama that plays out onboard the ship.

There are set experiences, like lightsaber and bridge training, but there are also many spontaneous moments where you are required to make a decision.

Will you join the resistance or take sides with the First Order? All of the choices you make create a completely customized, immersive experience.

Here is how Disney describes it on their website:

…part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game-and yet so much more.

Walt Disney World

If that doesn’t get you interested, I don’t know what will.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Opening Date

Star Wars Galactic Star Cruiser is slated to open on March 1, 2022.

This long awaited news was finally released today. Clearly, Disney is now confident in their construction progress.

I think the Star Wars fan base is collectively freaking out at this point.

When can I make Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser reservations?

Reservations for the Star Wars hotel open up on October 28, 2021.

If you know that you definitely want to book a stay on Galactic Starcruiser, be prepared to act pretty darn fast once reservations are released.

Despite the high price tag, I anticipate very high demand for these rooms.

Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders have a booking advantage. Emails went around today letting these category of guests know that they can make a Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser reservation between 10/7 and 10/9.

These DVC and passholder reservations must take place between 3/1/2022 and 5/4/2022. May the Fourth be with you!

Where is the Galactic Starcruiser located?

The building housing the Star Wars hotel is physically located behind Hollywood Studios. This is to allow easy access for guests directly into Star Wars Galaxy’s edge.

And no, the building doesn’t look like the images of the Halcyon spaceship guests will “ride” on. Everything contained inside the building will contribute to the entirely immersive experience, but the building exterior is simply a building.

Entrance to the Star Wars hotel, coming soon

The above image is an artist rendering of what guests will see as they approach the Starcruiser terminal at Walt Disney World.

Star Wars Hotel Price

We finally have information about official sample pricing, direct from Disney. No more rumors, now we have the real deal.

Keep in mind, these are still samples, but it gives you a general idea of what to expect. The prices listed below are for Standard Cabins. Clearly, it only goes up from here.

Keep reading for more information on the different types of cabins below.

2 Guests Per Cabin

$1209

Per guest per night

or $4809 total

3 Guests Per Cabin

$889

Per guest per night

or $5299 total

4 Guests Per Cabin

$749

Per guest per night

or $5999 total

These sample prices are specifically from 8/20/2022 to 9/17/2022. These samples also include at least 1 child in each cabin, so be prepared that a cabin full of adults will be more.

And remember, children in Disney are ages 3 to 9. Anyone older than that is considered an adult.

What’s Included in the Star Wars Hotel Price?

Think of this like an all inclusive vacation. All of your day to day expenses are included in the price.

You get 2 nights at the resort, as I mentioned above. No more, no less. But here’s what else is included:

  • Entry into Disney’s Hollywood Studios for one day
  • Two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners per guest (gratuity included for dinner)
  • One quick service meal with 1 entrée with one beverage (non-alcoholic or alcoholic) – at Docking Bay 7 in Hollywood Studios
  • Valet parking
  • Ongoing immersive and interactive entertainment where choices determine your experience
  • Exclusive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser databand (aka Disney MagicBand)

Star Wars Hotel Room Information

There are three different types of cabins to choose from, each with an increasing amount of space and amenities. And of course, increasing in price.

Here’s a run down of the types of cabins to choose from.

Standard Cabin

The standard cabin sleeps 4 to 5 passengers. There is a queen bed, 2 berths (bunk beds), and a wall pull-down bed. All of the beds are designed to fit adults.

You’ll get the following cabin amenities:

  • Mini-fridge
  • Hair dryer
  • In-cabin safe
  • Phone with voicemail messaging
  • Interactive TV
  • H20 Plus spa, bath, and shower products

Galaxy Class Suite

This is a one bedroom suite, giving guests more space to spread out in. However, this cabin suite only holds up to 4 passengers.

The beds include a queen size bed and 2 wall pull down beds.

In this layout, you get a living space with an integrated seating area. It has all the same comforts of the Standard Cabin plus a double vanity bathroom, bar area, two windows with views of space, and a few extra Star Wars surprises.

I am seriously dying with curiosity over what the surprises are.

All of the rest of the amenities are the same as the Standard Cabin.

Grand Captain Suite

Upgrade to the Grand Captain Suite and get two bedrooms and tons more space for your group. The Grand Captain Suite sleeps up to 8 passengers.

The sleeping configuring in this cabin includes 2 queen beds, 2 berths (bunk beds), and 2 wall pull down beds.

In addition to the beds spread out across 2 bedrooms, you also get a separate living space, a main suite with a double vanity bathroom, a second bathroom with a single vanity, a bar area, 3 windows with views of space, and those extra Star Wars surprises.

Seriously, what are these surprises?

How many guest rooms are there?

Again, Disney hasn’t provided an official number yet, but information has been gleaned from scouring construction permits.

It looks like there are only around 100 guest rooms within the resort. This is a VERY small number of rooms.

Clearly, a stay on the Galactic Starcruiser will be a more intimate experience. This is a huge change from spending your day with tens of thousands other people inside the parks.

On the flipside, this will create a very high demand for the rooms. The first guests in the resort will likely be the die hard Star Wars fans. Expect competition for rooms to be pretty fierce, despite the crazy price tag.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Itinerary

Disney has released a sample itinerary for the Star Wars hotel. Keep in mind, this isn’t completely a set in stone thing, but it’s designed to give people a better idea of what to expect.

Keep in mind, everyone’s experience will be a little different, even those residing in the same cabin. Don’t expect your itinerary to exactly match this one, but it gives you an idea.

Each guest has their own personal itinerary they can check in the Star Wars: Datapad. This is found on your mobile device as part of the Play Disney Parks app.

Not only does this give you your itinerary, you’ll also receive communications from characters and crew you’ve met along during your stay.

The choices you make throughout the stay trigger different communications. You may even get invited to secret meetings and other adventures.

What to Expect During a Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Stay

Let’s take a look at some of the components of the itinerary in a little more detail. This helps to flesh out a greater idea of what exactly to expect.

Arrival/Boarding

Guests arrive at the main terminal of the launching pods which bring them to the Halcyon, the starcruiser all the guests are staying on.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser launching pod artistic rendering

These launching pods take guests to the ship by jumping in hyperspace.

The windows in the launching pods show guests they are leaving Florida behind and entering outer space. These viewports also give guests a clear view of the Halcyon as they near it for docking.

The launch pods open into the atrium of the Halcyon. You’ve now entered a multi-day story where you have a starring role.

Atrium of the Star Wars Hotel Disney World

Guests should plan to arrive between 1:00p and 4:00p at the latest. Valet parking is included in your vacation package.

Passenger Cabins

Each passenger cabin includes its own window looking out into space. This allows guests to view other spaceships and intergalactic sights.

Many of the images we’ve seen of the passenger cabins include one main bed (possibly queen or king sized) and two bunks integrated into the wall.

Dining

The Crown of Corellia dining room provides breakfast and lunch to passengers before turning into a multi-course dining experience for guests of all ages.

Crown of Cornellia dining room on Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser

The menu consists of both otherwordly and familiar fare.

Crown of Corellia is named after the planet Corellia, made famous by it’s shipyards. That’s right, not only was the Halcyon built in Corellia, but the Millennium Falcon was as well.

While dining at the Crown of Corellia, passengers will be entertained by an intergalactic superstar, a known singing sensation.

Just like a cruise, when you book your stay, you’ll designate your preference for either the first or second dinner seating.

Dinner

You’ll have two dinners on board the Halcyon. The first night, the Crown of Corellia Dining Room is turned into a table service supper club. It’s during this meal that the galactic superstar will entertain you with her vocal talents.

This first meal is designed to let you enjoy unique dining while socializing with crew and other passengers.

The Taste Around the Galaxy meal is on night 2 of your stay. Each unique course is presented with the name, inspiration, and ingredients for the dishes.

I think this is a good thing because as you can see, the food is pretty unique looking.

The meal includes appetizers for the while table, a choice of entrée, and a specialty plated dessert.

Breakfast and Lunch

The Crown of Corellia Dining Room is the main dining room and also serves breakfast and lunch. While you can choose from “colorful fare from all over the galaxy” you can also have some familiar food from your home planet.

Breakfast offers hot and cold small plates and a variety of beverages including juices, fresh brewed coffee, and Bubo Wamba Family Farms blue milk.

Lunch consists of various small bites such as sandwiches, soups, mini-flatbreads, assorted salads, and sweets.

Captain’s Table

There is an upcharge experience known as the Captain’s Table. They don’t go into too much detail about it, but this ups the ante on your dinner experiences.

For an additional fee, you can be seated in a prime location in the dining room. You’ll also receive extra courses of food, hand selected as the captain’s favorites.

As I mentioned, there’s an additional fee to sit at the Captain’s Table.

Entertainment

Again, there aren’t too many details known about the day to day entertainment that guests will experience. But what we do know sounds pretty darn cool.

As I mentioned, it’s a fully immersive experience, so everything that happens is within the scope of the storyline.

Lightsaber Training

We know that there’s a lightsaber training simulator activity which allows guests to wield their own lightsabers. However, guests must be 7 years old in order to participate.

Speaking of lightsabers, check out this little video.

No, your eyes didn’t deceive you. That’s a new style of lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development.

We don’t yet know what role this lightsaber will play, but guests on Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser are the first ones who can witness this amazing piece of technology.

Bridge Training

Guests are encouraged to explore the bridge of the Halcyon starcruiser to learn how it functions. Guests learn about navigation, power, defense, and more.

I have to believe that these skills will come in handy at some point during your stay…

Excursion to Batuu

All guests have the opportunity to visit Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Translation: you get to go into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

You’ll be provided access to both Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, without the line or virtual boarding pass!

All throughout your time on Batuu, situations you face, and decisions you make impact events back on the ship.

Based on the itinerary, it also looks like there’s time to more fully explore Batuu. I would suggest checking out the shops, Droid Depot, and anything else you can manage.

Sublight Lounge

There’s also the Sublight Lounge, a retreat for guests of all ages. At Starlight Lounge you can order drinks, relax and unwind, or get into the action at the Sabacc tables.

Guests can wager some credit by playing a hand of holo-sabacc.

Costumes and Gala

All guests are invited to dress in the character costume of their choice. Don’t have any inter-galactic outfits? Don’t worry, Disney has you covered.

You can order outfits in advance from shopDisney or once you’re on board the ship.

I can only imagine how much those will cost…

However, you don’t need to dress in costume. As they put it, guests can feel free to wear their “most comfortable garb” from their home planet.

However, do make sure to pack a nice outfit for the traditional end of cruise gala celebration.

What NOT to Expect at Disney’s Star Wars Hotel

The main thing not to expect is to be able to stay at Star Wars Galactic Star cruiser and visit the Disney parks. This resort cannot be treated like any other Disney resort.

Once you arrive at the resort, you won’t be leaving the resort, unless it’s to go into Galaxy’s Edge. The whole two night stay is wholly dedicated to the immersive Star Wars experience.

If you want to make a stay at Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser part of a larger Disney trip, it will have to be tacked on to a stay at another resort.

To stay as up to date as possible on all things Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, visit Disney’s official page all about it. You can also sign up for updates directly from Disney World.
