Disney released the official dates of Epcot Flower and Garden Festival 2021! And man, will it be a long one!

This year, Flower and Garden Festival runs from March 3, 2021 through July 5, 2021. That’s over a month longer than it normally runs.

As they did for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival in the summer and fall, this is called Taste of Epcot Flower and Garden Festival instead of just Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.

This is because the festival won’t contain the full docket of offerings you usually see at Flower and Garden Festival.

Here’s What We Know

Well, we don’t know much beyond that date as of this initial writing (12/18/2020) but it’s a start!

We do know that there will be 20 locations around World Showcase to soothe your taste buds with food and drink. These are comprised of Outdoor Kitchens and “other food & beverage locations”.

Also returning are the topiaries and gardens which make this festival so beautiful. They specifically identified these fan favorite topiaries are returning:

  • Mickey
  • Donald and friends
  • Anna and Elsa
  • Lady and Tramp
  • Figment

All Epcot guests can also participate in Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration. This is the official scavenger hunt of Taste of Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.

What Not to Expect

The main event that likely won’t make an appearance is the Garden Rocks concert series. Unless something major changes between now and then, Disney doesn’t want to have crowds gathering for the concert.

Because of that, there should of course be no Garden Rocks Dining Package either.

The garden and tea tours are other things that might not exist at Taste of Flower and Garden Festival 2021. At this time, there are no upcharge tours going on anywhere (except VIP Tours). Because of this, I doubt the festival tours will make an appearance.

Why is Flower & Garden so long this year?

That’s a good question, and my answers are pure speculation. It’s not particularly surprising after the extremely long run that Taste of Epcot Food and Wine has this past summer and fall.

The lengthening of Flower and Garden isn’t a new trend, it kept getting longer and longer each year.

However, the bottom line is probably financial. The Epcot festivals are huge money makers for Disney and they might be trying to make whatever money they can.

Frankly, I don’t blame them. After the billions of dollars the parks lost this year, it’s in our best interest for Disney to recoup their money somehow. And I’d rather do it via amazing food and atmosphere than increased ticket prices.

It could also be because Disney doesn’t plan to have anything new and exciting opening up in the meantime. Of course, I’m talking about Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Space 220 restaurant.

Opening these major new additions would probably draw too much of a crowd right now so we’re stuck waiting. In the meantime, our consolation prize is a longer Flower and Garden Festival.

Or I’m just making all of this up and Disney has a totally different reason for making the festival so long this year!
